About Mohave Accelerated Learning Center

Mohave Accelerated Learning Center is the grades 6 to 12 campus of Mohave Accelerated Schools, a public charter district that opened in Bullhead City in 2001. Our sister school, Mohave Accelerated Elementary School, serves kindergarten through fifth grade.

Middle school students in grades 6 to 8 follow an accelerated academic program and gain access to clubs and sports starting in sixth grade. In high school, students can earn college credit through dual enrollment with Mohave Community College. Our career and technical education pathways cover construction technologies, culinary arts, business and entrepreneurship, engineering with 3D printers, and digital communications.

High school students also join robotics, student government, drama and athletics as the MALC Patriots, with football, volleyball and cheerleading among our teams. A school meal program serves our students.

Coyote Canyon School on Lakeside Drive houses several Bullhead City School District programs: the district preschool, Life Academy, a staff child care center and the district Special Education Office. Life Academy is a placement-only program for students in grades 3 to 8 who are enrolled in a Bullhead City School District school. Placement is set by a district hearing officer or by a student's special education team as the least restrictive environment for services, and the program does not accept open enrollment from other districts. Life Academy meets Monday through Thursday from 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., and preschool runs Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Our Special Education Department serves children with disabilities from birth to 21 through Child Find, preschool for children ages 3 to 5 with disabilities, educational intervention for students in kindergarten through 8th grade, and referrals for younger children to the Arizona Early Intervention Program. District specialists cover learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, intellectual disabilities, deafness and hearing loss, and visual impairments.

New Day School - Bullhead City

Bullhead City, AZ Ages 2-5
Learning centers Kindergarten readiness Hands-on learning

New Day School in Bullhead City cares for children from 18 months to 5 years old, open weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. New Day Schools has been family owned for more than 35 years and runs five preschools in Mohave County, and some of our former students now bring their own children to us. Our classrooms are set up as learning centers: writing, math, science, a sensory table, blocks, puzzles, dramatic play, a listening center, computer skills and individual story writing for reading readiness. Mornings open with multi-age play, then the preschool program begins with circle time, a weekly theme, music and creative movement, and a long choice period when children pick their activities while teachers guide and observe. Outdoor centers add sand and water play, and our large playgrounds get daily use. Lunch and a rest period follow, we provide nutritious morning and afternoon snacks, and staff help with potty training. Arizona's Department of Health Services licenses our school, and DES certifies it. Our director and teachers hold state certification, all staff are fingerprinted, and our own Basics and Beyond Curriculum prepares children for kindergarten.
