Frequently Asked Questions About Special Needs Schools in Robertsdale

Who handles special education referrals for Robertsdale students?
Baldwin County Public Schools' Special Services Department, which runs Child Find for ages 3 to 21. Call 251-970-7324, then follow up with a dated written request for an evaluation. Under the state process, the IEP team reviews the referral first and decides whether an evaluation is needed. See our request guide.
Does Robertsdale have its own special education program?
Baldwin County Public Schools says a full range of services for identified students with disabilities, Pre-K through grade 12, is offered in all schools in the system. Your child's IEP team decides which services and setting fit, and you are a member of that team. Ask the school what the continuum looks like at your child's campus.
What happens when my toddler leaves early intervention?
Alabama's Early Intervention System must help families plan the transition at age 3. The service coordinator writes a transition plan with you and schedules a meeting with the local school system to discuss public preschool services. Alabama EI says the placement choice is ultimately the family's. Our early intervention guide covers it.
How long does a Baldwin County evaluation take?
Alabama's state process gives the district 60 calendar days from receiving your signed consent to complete the initial evaluation. The team then has 30 calendar days to determine eligibility, and if your child qualifies, an IEP meeting must be held within 30 calendar days of that decision. Bring notes using our IEP prep checklist.
