Prichard Preparatory School
Prichard Preparatory School began in 2005 as Pure Word Academy, started by a local pastor who wanted the children of her church to have the same college-prep private education as more fortunate families in Mobile. Since 2010 we have occupied a former public elementary school on Mount Sinai Avenue, and today we are a private, nonprofit, non-denominational Christian school for Pre-K4 through fifth grade. Classes are capped at 18 students, and an extended academic day leaves time for each core subject. Technology and music are daily classes, and all students also study Spanish, art, Bible and physical education. All of our teachers hold Alabama certification. New students take an entrance exam, and our graduates go on to college-prep, private and magnet middle schools. Students pick a club each Friday afternoon, and the year brings plays, a Fall Festival, a Christmas Extravaganza and a Spring Show. We are accredited by AdvancED/SACS and the Alabama Independent School Association and hold AISA's Blue Ribbon Award. Our After-School Education Program runs until 5:30 p.m. with homework help, STEAM activities, arts and crafts and a snack.
