Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Greenlight ABA

Do you accept Medicaid and private insurance?

Yes. We accept Medicaid and most major insurance plans in Utah and Colorado. Before therapy starts, our team verifies your ABA benefits, handles prior authorization, and manages the paperwork and billing so you can focus on your child.

What is the youngest age you work with?

We provide ABA therapy to children as young as 18 months. We specialize in early intervention, because starting early gives children the best chance to build communication, social, and daily living skills.

Where do therapy sessions take place?

Most of our therapy happens in your home, where your child feels comfortable and new skills carry straight into daily routines like mealtime, getting dressed, and playtime. We also provide school-based ABA, with the school's approval, so your child gets support in the classroom. We do not currently offer clinic-based therapy.

How many hours of ABA therapy will my child receive?

ABA is an intensive therapy. Our recommended schedules start at around 20 hours per week and can go up to 40 hours, with sessions most days that often last several hours. Your BCBA sets the right number of hours for your child, and we gradually reduce them as your child gains skills.

How do we get started?

First, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) completes a detailed assessment of your child's strengths, challenges, and goals. Your BCBA then builds an individualized treatment plan and walks you through it in plain language before therapy begins. Once you are comfortable with the plan, a trained Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) starts sessions under your BCBA's supervision.

What is the difference between a BCBA and an RBT?

A BCBA is a master's-level, board-certified clinician who designs your child's program, supervises it, and tracks progress. An RBT is a certified technician who works one-on-one with your child to deliver that program under the BCBA's direct supervision. RBTs repeat a competency assessment every year.

How involved are parents in therapy?

Very involved. Caregiver training is part of every program. Our clinicians teach you practical strategies to reinforce your child's progress and handle challenging behaviors between sessions, and siblings can join in too. You receive regular updates on how your child is moving forward.

Do you work with my child's school and other therapists?

Yes. Our BCBAs coordinate directly with teachers and school staff, including your child's IEP goals when available. We also connect with your child's speech therapist, occupational therapist, and pediatrician, so every part of your child's care works toward the same goals.

How long will my child need ABA therapy?

It depends on your child's needs and progress. Many children benefit from several years of ABA, while others need less. Our transition planning reduces therapy hours step by step based on your child's data, helping them move confidently into school and community settings with greater independence.

What areas do you serve?

In Utah, we serve Draper and the Salt Lake Valley, including Salt Lake City, Sandy, Murray, Millcreek, West Jordan, and West Valley City, as well as Provo and Orem. In Colorado, we serve Denver, Colorado Springs, Aurora, Fort Collins, Lakewood, and surrounding communities. Call us at (877) 881-3090 to confirm we serve your area.
