About Sterne School - San Francisco
Sterne School is an independent day school in San Francisco for students in grades 4-12, including students with dyslexia, ADHD, and related learning differences. Valerie Anthony opened the school in 1976 as a one-room program in the Sunset District for students ages 7-14. It now serves nearly 200 students on an urban campus at 838 Kearny Street.
Lower and middle school use skills-based class placement so students can reach grade-level content with integrated support. High school is college preparatory, with college counseling throughout those years. Arts, athletics, and experiential education sit alongside academics.
