Focus Academy

Focus Academy is a tuition-free public charter school in Florida dedicated to serving students aged 5 to 22 with cognitive and developmental challenges, including language-based learning disabilities and twice-exceptional learners. Founded in 2012 by visionary parents, the school was established with the mission of creating a nurturing environment where children with special needs are valued and supported, ultimately preparing them for academic, social, and workplace success. Focus Academy employs an innovative and integrated teaching approach that combines specialized educational strategies with therapeutic methodologies, ensuring that each student receives personalized support tailored to their unique needs. The school stands out for its low student-teacher ratio, fostering strong family partnerships that enhance the educational experience. Additionally, Focus Academy hosts unique community events designed to promote engagement and connection among families, further enriching the learning environment and empowering students to lead purposeful lives.

Focus Academy is a tuition-free charter school for ESE/special needs students in Middle School, and High School, and we offer a Transition Program through age 22. Our students have disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and/or Intellectually Disabled. Social skills therapies are incorporated into the curriculum for a seamless learning experience with the goal of transitioning into the real world. We have been serving ESE students since 2013 and have received the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS) Excellence in Action award and the highest academic rating for an ESE center from the State of Florida. Focus Academy is exclusively for ESE students with an IEP on Access Points.
