About Center for Lifelong Learning
On Cheesequake Road in Sayreville, the Center for Lifelong Learning is an Educational Services Commission of New Jersey school for students ages 3 through 21. Students may have autism, multiple disabilities, communication disabilities, cognitive impairments, or physical disabilities. More than 200 students attend. They are grouped into four age-based communities. Each community has six classrooms and three speech therapy rooms that families can use as observation rooms.
Instruction is individualized and draws on applied behavior analysis, including verbal behavior for students with autism. Autism classes run at a 2 to 1 student-to-staff ratio. Classes for students with multiple disabilities run at 3 to 1. The day builds communication, academics, social skills, daily living, and vocational skills for students whose disabilities range from moderate to severe. The school has a preschool class for children with disabilities, six classes for students with multiple disabilities, and seventeen classes for students with autism.
Parents work with staff so learning and behavior support stay consistent at home and at school.
