Hudson Arts and Science Charter School - Elementary

Hudson Arts and Science Charter School's elementary campus at 131 Midland Avenue in Kearny teaches kindergarten through fourth grade, and our junior high campus on Chestnut Street continues through tenth grade. We are a tuition-free public charter school in the iLearn Schools network, with a STEAM-based curriculum that brings science, technology, engineering, arts, and math into daily lessons.

Admission is by public lottery with no entrance exams or interviews, and priority goes to students who live in Jersey City and Kearny. A weighted lottery gives English language learners and low-income students a higher chance of selection, and children must turn 5 by October 1 to enter kindergarten.

Our elementary staff includes a school nurse, social worker, and psychologist. Students who need extra help get small-group instruction and tutoring through iRise, the Intervention and Referral Services team and Child Study Team handle evaluations and IEPs, and English learners receive ESL pull-out or inclusion support based on proficiency.
