Y.A.L.E. School Cherry Hill Standard 9 Program

Our Standard 9 Program lets students who have already earned their high school credits defer the diploma and keep receiving special education while they work toward the transition goals in their IEP. The Cherry Hill Standard 9 program, open to ages 18 to 21, is based on the campus of Camden County College in Blackwood.

Students follow one of three tiers. Scholars prepare for a two- or four-year college and may take remedial college classes on a non-matriculated basis at our on-site location. Exploration students aim for a two-year degree or competitive employment, and the Vocational Extension tier trains for skilled, entrepreneurial or high-tech work at the Y.A.L.E. Vocational Skills Lab and Co-op in Cherry Hill, where older students help run student businesses.

Independent living is taught directly. Students practice home management at the Y.A.L.E. Life Skills House, explore mobility and transportation on a driving simulator, and attend weekly social skills seminars led by a certified counselor. Founded in 1976, Y.A.L.E. School is an approved private school for students with disabilities monitored by the New Jersey Department of Education, and most students are referred by their home district at no cost to parents.
