Warren Glen Academy

Founded in 1978 as the Stepping Stone School, Warren Glen Academy is a New Jersey approved private school for students with disabilities, set on a rural campus in Bloomsbury. Students come to us through their home district's Child Study Team, and the district pays tuition, so families pay nothing.

We serve elementary, middle and high school students identified with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, health impairments, multiple disabilities, speech and language impairments, emotional regulation impairment, ADD and ADHD. Our approach is built on Glasser's Choice Theory, which teaches students to own their choices. Instruction is individualized and aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, with individual and group counseling, speech therapy, occupational therapy, a school social worker and a sensory room.

Students take art, music, woodshop, computer science with robotics, drones and 3D printing, and world languages including Spanish, French, German and ASL. A life skills lab with a kitchen and laundry supports our Job Exploration Transition program for students ages 16 to 21. We also offer therapy dogs, equine therapy, adaptive physical education, drivers education and a six-week extended school year.
