The Treatment and Learning Centers (TLC), established in 1950 and located in Rockville, MD, is a private non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with diverse abilities. Serving nearly 2,000 students each year, TLC's core mission focuses on improving the quality of life for those with disabilities, including children with language-based learning disabilities and twice-exceptional learners. The Katherine Thomas School, a key component of TLC, offers specialized programs for preschool through high school students that incorporate evidence-based therapeutic methodologies such as speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, and early intervention services. With a commitment to individualized education plans and a low student-to-teacher ratio, the school fosters an environment that emphasizes personal growth and academic achievement. Unique features of TLC include strong family partnerships that enhance the educational experience, specialized facilities designed for various therapeutic needs, and community events that promote inclusivity and support among families. This holistic approach ensures that every child is empowered to reach their fullest potential in a nurturing and supportive setting.
