About Gersh Autism Academy Queens Campus
Gersh Autism Academy Queens Campus opened in 2022 on Springfield Boulevard in Queens Village as an autism school in New York City for kindergarten through 5th grade. After 5th grade, our students can move on to nearby Gersh campuses and keep the same approach.
Applied Behavior Analysis is part of our school day, delivered by certified ABA therapists from individualized plans. Speech therapy reaches verbal and nonverbal children and can add a voice output device, signs or pictures. Occupational therapists work on sensory, fine motor and executive functioning skills, and physical therapists on gross motor skills and mobility. Counselors trained in Collaborative Problem Solving lead individual and group sessions and handle crisis intervention. Each student follows an individualized learning plan.
Daily living skills start early, and lessons extend into the community through educational field trips. Gersh opened its first academy in 1999 and now runs autism programs in New York, Washington, New Hampshire and Puerto Rico.
