Phoenix Montessori has taught young children in Lenexa since 1991. Our program follows the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, and our school leadership brings more than 30 years of Montessori teaching experience. Many of our staff have been with us for years, so children see familiar faces from one year to the next. We serve children ages 2.5 to 6 in preschool and kindergarten. Our classrooms are filled with hands-on Montessori materials, and children choose their work, move at their own pace and practice practical life skills every day, from caring for the room to early writing and math. Class sizes are small. Families can choose a half day from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. or a full day from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with extended hours when space allows. Tuition is based on the nine-month school year, and enrollment starts with an application, followed by a campus visit and a family meeting.

Shooting Stars Montessori is an early childhood center in Lenexa with one classroom for each age group: infants from 2 weeks, movers from 1 to 2, toddlers from 2 to 3, and a mixed-age preschool room for children 3 to school age. Each room is led by a teacher certified through the North American Montessori Center along with an assistant teacher. Our authentic Montessori program covers practical life, sensorial work, math, language and cultural studies, which takes in geography, history, nature and science. Children choose their work from hands-on materials and progress at their own pace. We add monthly science experiments, math-based projects, art and nature activities, and visits from firefighters, farmers, artists and musicians. We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Class sizes are small, and low staff turnover gives children consistent caregivers. Our building has secured entry points, and we run regular fire, tornado and lockdown drills.
