About Clare Woods Academy
Clare Woods Academy is a non-public, non-profit alternative day school in Wheaton for students ages 5 to 22, from elementary and middle school through high school and transition. Many of our students are on the autism spectrum, and our classrooms are built for students with learning and behavioral differences who have high support needs.
Occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and counseling are part of the school day. Each student has an individualized plan that targets the skills and behaviors needed for the least restrictive setting, with progress tracked through daily data collection and reviewed at the annual IEP meeting. When it fits the student, we work toward reintegration into the home district.
Students come to us through their home school district's IEP team, and our families represent more than 30 public school districts across the Chicago area. Admission includes a records review, an observation of the student, a campus tour for parents and an intake meeting. We are a program of Bartlett Learning Center, which also runs a group home and an adult day program.
