About South Eastern Special Education
Eleven public school districts share our South Eastern Special Education cooperative's programs and expertise. We support students with disabilities from age three through 22, extending each member district's resources with educational options that can match a student's needs. Our Newton, Illinois office coordinates that work across the member communities.
Self-contained classrooms, itinerant support and additional student services form part of our programs, which operate under recognition from the Illinois State Board of Education. For students with more severe or multiple disabilities, our program options extend the support available in their home district. We bring classroom services and specialist support into the cooperative's work rather than expecting every district to provide every option on its own.
Our team also provides technical assistance and helps districts meet state and federal special education requirements. Professional development includes TCIS and Safety Care training for educators. We connect program delivery with the preparation and district collaboration needed to provide those services.
Families can use our information about parent rights, notifications, special education procedures and family resources as they participate in the special education process.
