About Fairhaven School (SEDOL)
Fairhaven School is a therapeutic public day program in Mundelein serving students in kindergarten through twelfth grade from SEDOL member districts. The environment is highly structured and sensory friendly, with a 1:1 student-to-teacher ratio and individualized teaching methods. Staff focus on communication, social-emotional learning, fine and gross motor skills, and sensory integration, supported by physical therapy, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, social work, and adapted PE in a renovated gym. Individualized Behavior Intervention Plans, community-based instruction, vocational facilitation, and transition planning through the IEP process round out the program, and the LASSO 3 language and social skills program is offered on site. Students take part in traditional school experiences too, including Homecoming, Spirit Week, and graduation.
