Cameron Park Montessori
Cameron Park Montessori School has taught young children since 1974. Today we run two classrooms on Mother Lode Drive in Shingle Springs: a toddler class for 18 to 36 months and a preschool class for ages 2 and a half to 6 that includes TK and kindergarten. Our owner and director also teaches in the classroom. The preschool room keeps a 1:8 teacher to student ratio and covers the full Montessori curriculum, including practical life, sensorial work, math, language, cultural subjects, handwriting, art, music, Spanish, and grace and courtesy. Toddlers learn at a 1:4 ratio, with a focus on daily living skills, motor development and toilet independence. Kindergarten is open to children who attended our preschool or bring verified experience from another Montessori program. We operate year-round starting in mid-August, with full-time and part-time schedules from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and close about four weeks a year plus holidays. Parents observe a working classroom before applying. Tuition is billed monthly, with a $100 registration fee and a $200 materials fee each year, and we accept Catalyst Community, Tribal and CalWorks child care stipends.

Opportunity Acres dba Independent Trails is a nonpublic certified school located at 7315 S Shingle Road in Shingle Springs, California. It serves students in grades 6 through 12 with a primary diagnosis on the autism spectrum. The program provides a meaningful school education that includes vocational training, job sampling, and critical independent living skills, with a strong emphasis on communication and social skills training. Each student receives a comprehensive assessment in the first 30 days of placement to identify strengths, interests, and needs. Individualized lesson plans are developed to meet unique needs and address IEP goals. Students participate in ranch activities such as working with animals, gardening, cooking, and community outings. The school maintains small classrooms with a maximum of 10 students per class and a high staff-to-student ratio. Curriculum is provided by a credentialed teacher supported by instructional assistants and clinical staff.
