Mercer Island High School is the island's four-year public high school, with about 1,548 students and 103 classroom staff. Our campus also includes Crest Learning Center, an alternative program with project-based coursework and close adult support, where students earn the same Mercer Island High School diploma. Students choose from English, math, science, social studies, world language, fine arts and PE courses, and can take Running Start college classes. Every student receives a laptop through the 1:1 program, and Islander Hour and academic support sessions give extra time with teachers. English language learners have dedicated support, and counselors from Mercer Island Youth and Family Services work on campus alongside our academic counselors. A Career Pathways Hub helps students plan for college, trade school, the military or a gap year. Outside class, the Islanders field a full athletic program, and our Unified Sports teams in flag football, basketball, soccer and robotics bring students with and without disabilities together. Performing arts include drama productions, a marching band and music ensembles, and student media covers MIHS.tv, the Islander newspaper and the Pegasus arts magazine. ASB runs clubs and activities through the year.
