Community Homeschool Co-op (CHC) is a Christian faith-based hybrid homeschool cooperative located in Edmonds, WA, catering to students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The co-op supports independent homeschooling families by offering a unique blend of structure and flexibility. CHC's mission is to provide a nurturing environment where students can thrive academically and spiritually, with an emphasis on Christian discipleship interwoven throughout their programs. The co-op operates on a model that requires active parent involvement, fostering a collaborative community where parents work together to educate their children. Classes are available full-time, part-time, or just on Fridays, with core classes taught two days a week and enrichment electives offered each Friday. A standout feature is the ROOTED dual credit program in partnership with Colorado Christian University, enabling high school students to earn affordable college credits while deepening their faith. CHC's approach emphasizes teaching students how to learn, supporting the homeschooling parent's role as the primary educator. This cooperative model offers workshops and unit studies on specific days and provides opportunities for parents to engage deeply in their children's education through various roles within the co-op. With passionate instructors and a commitment to building a supportive community, CHC offers an enriching educational experience that combines the benefits of homeschooling with collaborative learning opportunities.

Parents are in the classroom every week at Maplewood Parent Cooperative, a K-8 choice school in the Edmonds School District serving families from Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace and Woodway. Each family commits to volunteering one half day per child per week, joining at least one committee, driving for two field trips a year and attending the monthly parent meeting. Because interest exceeds our space, enrollment is by lottery, with the kindergarten drawing held each February. Our middle school is small, with roughly 107 to 113 students in grades 7 and 8. Each teacher also leads an elective, and past offerings have included art, band, orchestra, cinematography, computer science, STEM, leadership and yearbook. On Friday mornings, parent-led enrichment classes add options such as cooking, German, Japanese, hiking, yoga and LEGO League. Students compete in cross country, volleyball, basketball, and track and field, and the middle school stages a musical each year. Our building opened in 2002 and has a school library, and a student intervention coordinator is on staff. Families support the cooperative program through a pledge, with a suggested $20 per student per month.

Montessori Academy is a licensed home childcare facility dedicated to nurturing children aged 2.5 to 6 years, providing a safe and engaging environment for early learning. The school is committed to inclusivity, welcoming children from diverse backgrounds, races, and religions, ensuring that every child feels valued and supported. Montessori Academy employs a holistic educational approach that emphasizes hands-on learning through carefully designed programs. These include sensorial activities that refine the five senses, practical life exercises that foster independence and responsibility, and a robust language curriculum that introduces letters, sounds, and writing skills. Mathematics concepts are explored through engaging activities that build a strong foundation in numeration and operations. The geography program encourages an appreciation for cultural diversity while science topics spark curiosity about the world around us. Music education further enriches the curriculum by developing listening skills and creativity. What sets Montessori Academy apart is its low student-teacher ratio, which allows for personalized attention and strong family partnerships. This collaborative atmosphere not only enhances the learning experience but also fosters a community where children thrive emotionally and academically.
