Hyla School is an independent middle and high school on Bainbridge Island serving grades 5 to 12 on our Bucklin Hill campus. The middle school program covers grades 5 to 8, and the upper school covers grades 9 to 12. Our upper school follows a deeper learning model built on sustained, meaningful work rather than piles of assignments. Signature programs include Panoramas, which take learning outside the classroom, and UW in the Upper School, through which students begin college coursework. Middle school students choose from a long list of electives and take Human Relations, a class on how to be part of a community. Students compete on middle and upper school athletic teams. Families can apply for Flexible Tuition, and upper school applicants can also apply for merit scholarships.
