About the Center

The Autism Learning Center (ALC) is a dedicated nonprofit organization established in September 1997 to provide essential, research-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for children with autism in Northern Virginia. Catering to a diverse range of needs, ALC focuses on children who may have language-based learning disabilities or are twice-exceptional, ensuring that each child receives an individualized program tailored to their unique requirements. The center employs highly trained Registered Behavioral Technicians (RBTs) under the supervision of Board Certified Behavioral Analysts (BCBAs), delivering intensive one-on-one therapy that encompasses both academic and life skills. The curriculum emphasizes the development of communication abilities grounded in Skinner’s theory of verbal behavior, alongside self-help and social skills, with a strong emphasis on generalization to real-world settings. ALC's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for children with autism and their families is evident in its home-based services, which provide 12-30 hours of therapy per week. What sets ALC apart is its focus on fostering strong family partnerships, a low student-to-teacher ratio, and an unwavering dedication to improving the overall well-being of its students through personalized support and community engagement.
