About LISD Special Education
A request for a special education evaluation can begin with Child Find in Lewisville ISD. We help families understand that process, the rights that guide their participation and the educational services available to students with disabilities. Our LISD Special Education team works with students, parents and campus staff as they organize programs and plan support together.
Parents can use procedural information and notices in English and Spanish as they take part in evaluation and planning. We explain the special education process and the rights guiding family participation. Our learning-support guidance connects IDEA, dyslexia support, multi-tiered systems of support and Section 504 so families can understand how these areas relate.
State-assessment resources include STAAR and STAAR Alternate 2 information for parents. For life after school, we connect families with the Texas Transition and Employment Guide, which covers transition and employment planning.
These resources sit alongside the district's wider Student Services support from kindergarten through graduation. We bring the school team and family into the educational conversation, with information parents can use to understand decisions and participate in planning. Our department supports parents working with their child's school team on evaluation, educational planning and preparation for life beyond school. Families can return to the assessment resources or transition guide as those particular questions arise.
