About Coastal Autism Academy
At Coastal Autism Academy, we care for children and adolescents with autism or significant developmental delays who need more support than a traditional school setting can provide. Families may be considering a private school placement or residential living, and we know that choice takes careful discussion. Our person-centered work includes communication and the daily activities that make home, school, and community life safer and more manageable: eating, toileting, grooming, transitions, and responding to sensory demands. We plan care around each child’s abilities and needs, including behavior that may put the child or others at risk. At the Academy for the Arts, Science and Technology, we connect academics with hands-on arts, science and career experiences. Our Myrtle Beach school is Cognia STEM certified. Students practice collaboration, problem-solving and critical thinking through projects and work-based learning. Our programs include computer programming and software development, and students can take part in robotics. We emphasize applying ideas and using industry-standard tools as students prepare for college and careers.
Discovery Academy - Myrtle Beach
The Curious Academy is a secular private microschool on Forestbrook Road in Myrtle Beach, started by a classroom teacher. We operated as Discovery Academy before taking our current name. Children learn in small mixed-age pods, with no homework and mastery valued over timelines. Our Curious Kids Pre-K is a part-time, play-based program that meets Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 11:30 for $150 a week. The K-2 pod meets full days, Monday to Friday, for $6,500 a year, with mastery checklists built from South Carolina standards, hands-on lessons, nature time and student-directed themes. In the 3rd to 5th grade pod, students work through individualized online coursework, on a secular or Christian-based platform the family chooses, plus inquiry units and project work, for $6,000 a year. Each K-5 program adds a $200 supply fee. Scheduling and pacing adjust for neurodivergent learners, excused absences for appointments are unlimited, and outside speech and occupational therapists can work with students on campus. We are not equipped for students who need intensive services or a one-to-one aide. K-5 families can use South Carolina ESTF scholarship funds, and we do not offer after-care at this time.
