UCP LeafBridge Alternative Education Program

The LeafBridge Alternative Education Program is a day program of UCP of Greater Cleveland for students from preschool up to age 22 who have complex learning, medical or motor needs and have struggled to progress in other settings. Many of our students have had trouble reaching the curriculum because of challenges with communication, movement, self-regulation or learning.

Each student works from a personalized plan built by a team of teachers, therapists, educational assistants and specialists. We combine specialized instruction with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and assistive technology, and our assistive technology staff are RESNA-certified professionals who also hold clinical or teaching licenses. Learning happens at our Resource Drive building in Brooklyn Heights and out in the Cleveland community, depending on what each student needs.

The school year runs from late August to late May, with classes Monday through Thursday, and Extended School Year services keep skills going over the summer. UCP of Greater Cleveland was started in 1950 by parents of children with cerebral palsy, and LeafBridge families can also draw on our case managers for funding help, IEP advocacy and transition planning into adult services.
