About Queen's Grant Community School
Queen's Grant Community School is a K-8 public charter school on Matthews-Mint Hill Road and part of the National Heritage Academies network. There is no entrance exam, and when applications outnumber seats during open enrollment, we hold a random lottery.
Instruction is supported by grade-band deans, one for kindergarten through grade 4 and one for grades 5 to 8, and a dean of special education and intervention leads our support for students with IEPs. When a child is struggling, teachers work with our Intervention Assistance team on a plan, and free tutoring is available in the subjects where help is needed. Students ready for more can join EXCEL-ERATE for advanced ELA and math, and middle schoolers may earn high school credit. Moral Focus character lessons run daily.
Specials include art, music, PE, Spanish and technology, with electives such as band, drama, gaming and coding, and medical science. The Knights field middle school teams in basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf, cross country and more, and younger students can try flag football, martial arts and Girls on the Run. Middle school trips reach as far as Washington, D.C.
