QSAC Early Childhood Development

Our Preschool and Early Childhood Center in Douglaston is part of QSAC, a nonprofit founded in 1978 by parents who could not find adequate services for their children with autism. QSAC now provides direct services to more than 2,700 children and adults across New York City and Long Island.

Our center-based preschool serves children ages 3 to 5 with autism and other developmental disabilities in a full-day, 12-month program. Classes are small, with ratios of 6:1:3, 8:1:2, and 12:1:2, and each room is led by a New York State certified special education teacher. Each child's education follows the goals in the Individualized Education Program, and related services such as speech therapy are delivered as the IEP outlines.

All instruction follows the principles of applied behavior analysis. Children are referred individually through a coordinated process between QSAC and the Board of Education's Committee on Preschool Special Education. QSAC also offers early intervention and evaluations for children transitioning from early intervention to preschool special education.
