Franklin County Special Education Cooperative

A separate public setting for kindergarten through twelfth grade is one of our services at Franklin County Special Education Cooperative. We serve students whose needs require a more restrictive environment than their member district's public school program. Early childhood special education also operates in selected districts, and our curriculum addresses learning for students with moderate to severe disabilities.

The team includes educators, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and Board Certified Behavior Analysts. We connect that professional expertise with students' educational needs. School teams can also participate in our Safe Crisis Management training and annual paraprofessional conference to strengthen their work with students.

Our cooperative began in 1975 and now serves fourteen member districts: St. Clair, Sullivan, Union, Lonedell, New Haven, Franklin County R-II, Spring Bluff, Strain-Japan, Owensville, Bourbon, Steelville, Richwoods, Cuba and Hermann. At our St. Clair center, families can use the student handbook, calendar and school supply information to prepare for the year. Across these districts, our work focuses on students' education and the skills they use to participate responsibly in their communities. Our annual paraprofessional conference and Safe Crisis Management training support the school teams who work with these students.
