Vanguard Charter Academy is a tuition-free public charter school in Wyoming serving Young 5s through 8th grade, and one of more than 100 schools in the National Heritage Academies network. Any eligible student can apply with no entrance exam or interview, and a random lottery is held when applications outnumber open seats. Character education runs through every day in our Moral Focus program, where students practice virtues such as respect, gratitude, perseverance and integrity. Our Behave with Care approach sets the same expectations in every classroom. Deans for lower elementary, upper elementary, middle school and intervention support teachers, and our free tutoring program pairs teachers with the Intervention Assistance team. Young 5s gives younger children a bridge year before kindergarten. Specials include art, music, PE, Spanish and technology, and older students can choose band, life skills and finance electives.
