Frost School (P.E.A.C.E. Academy)

International Technology Academy (ITA) is a Pontiac School District school that serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade on one campus on Parkhurst Street. We run two divisions, K-5 and 6-12, each with its own principal and office, so younger and older students have their own leadership while sharing one building. Families apply to attend ITA through our school application. We give students academically and ethnically diverse experiences where they practice critical thinking and collaboration and grow into global citizens with integrity and professionalism. Our community partners include Oakland University, Oakland Community College, General Motors, Harvard University, Kensington Church and FIRST Robotics, and they support mentoring, classroom help, extracurricular enrichment and family outreach. Student life at ITA includes Homecoming Week and a K-5 Field Day, and students wear a school uniform in every grade.

Kennedy School is a Pontiac School District program that prepares students for life beyond the classroom, building the academic, vocational and life skills they need for greater independence and a successful move into adult life. Our teachers use individualized supports, accommodations and technology, and we work closely with families. Services are planned through IEPs, and the district's related services include occupational therapy, physical therapy, art therapy, music therapy, speech therapy and transition support, along with school social workers and psychologists. Transportation is provided when students travel to their program. Students grow plants in the Kennedy greenhouse, and families join us for family nights and end-of-year celebrations. Breakfast and lunch are free for every student.

The Lower School of Notre Dame Preparatory School, on Giddings Road in Pontiac, enrolls children from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade as the first division of a Catholic, Marist Pre-K to 12 school conducted by the Marist Fathers and Brothers. Our youngest students learn through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, and NDP is one of the only Catholic Pre-K to 12 schools in the country to offer IB at every grade level. Reading instruction follows the science of reading, with systematic phonics and diagnostic tools that help teachers identify learning needs early. Daily Spanish begins in pre-kindergarten, music starts in Pre-K 3, and fourth and fifth graders may join band. We are a 1:1 technology school, and the Lower School holds Apple Distinguished School status. Notre Dame Prep is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States and the National Association of Independent Schools, and tuition assistance is awarded every year. Pre-K applicants complete a parent interview, while children entering kindergarten through grade 5 take reading and math assessments on a scheduled Visit Day.
