Baystate Academy Charter Public School on Roosevelt Avenue in Springfield is a college preparatory public charter school for grades 6 to 12 with an interdisciplinary curriculum centered on the health sciences. Students take specialized biomedical science courses through Project Lead The Way, and our Allied Health teachers introduce them to careers in health care. We use the EL Education model, so much of the learning happens through long-term projects and expeditions that span several subjects and end in work students share with the school and the wider community. In 11th and 12th grade, students take college-level courses at HCC or STCC and earn credit toward both their high school diploma and a future college degree. Our faculty includes special education teachers and special education teaching assistants, ESL teachers and English learner paraprofessionals, two social workers, a school nurse, a college and career readiness counselor, and teachers for art, Spanish and physical education. Admission is by application, and we accept applications each year for the coming school year.
