The Katherine Thomas School

The Treatment and Learning Centers (TLC), established in 1950 and located in Rockville, MD, is a private non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with diverse abilities. Serving nearly 2,000 students each year, TLC's core mission focuses on improving the quality of life for those with disabilities, including children with language-based learning disabilities and twice-exceptional learners. The Katherine Thomas School, a key component of TLC, offers specialized programs for preschool through high school students that incorporate evidence-based therapeutic methodologies such as speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, and early intervention services. With a commitment to individualized education plans and a low student-to-teacher ratio, the school fosters an environment that emphasizes personal growth and academic achievement. Since our founding in 1995, The Katherine Thomas School (KTS) has provided an exceptional educational experience for children with language and learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. We serve students, preschool through 12th grade, at our Rockville, Maryland day school. The KTS mission is to enable students to reach their full educational potential through a multi-sensory, developmental, language-intensive curriculum. We use a team model that includes highly-trained, energetic and experienced teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and physical therapists.
