Cedar Lane School

Cedar Lane School is a Howard County Public School System special education school in Fulton, organized into elementary, middle and high school teams plus our Cornerstone program. Classroom teachers work alongside a large group of paraeducators and student assistants, and an IEP facilitator coordinates each student's plan. Our related services staff includes occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, a vision impairment teacher and behavior support staff, with a school psychologist, a social worker and four registered nurses on site.

Related arts go well beyond the usual rotation. Students swim with an aquatics teacher and swim paraeducator, and they also take horticulture, career skills, music, art, library media and physical education. In spring 2026 students and staff planted 50 fruit and nut-bearing trees and shrubs on campus as a living classroom for building job skills.

For students 14 and older, our transition contact helps families plan the move from school to adult services, with Developmental Disabilities Administration application guidance, quarterly parent-to-parent transition meetings and tours of adult agencies. Each spring we celebrate a graduating class and fifth grade promotion, and our PTA hosts events such as Bingo Night and the Walk for Our Stars.
