About The Howard School
The Howard School is a private K-12 day school in Atlanta, founded in 1948, for students with average to above-average cognitive ability whose learning differences have made school hard. Students arrive with profiles that include dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, expressive and receptive language disorders, auditory processing disorder, ADHD, and executive functioning challenges. Teaching draws on neuropsychological research about how the brain learns, and full-time speech-language pathologists, literacy specialists, math specialists, and assistive technology specialists work with students throughout the school day. Alongside academics there are arts, after-school clubs, and no-cut athletic teams beginning in middle school. Admissions run on a rolling basis for Grades K-12, standardized entrance testing such as the SSAT or ISEE is not required, and the school day runs 8:30 to 3:00.
