AEF Schools serves students with autism and related needs at their Fort Lauderdale-area campus. Founded in 2003, they offer an academy program (low to average functioning) and a preparatory program (high functioning). Students must be toilet trained, non-aggressive, and able to follow verbal instructions. Ann Storck Center is a Fort Lauderdale nonprofit that serves children and adults with developmental disabilities. Its All Heart Learning Academy is a K-7 private school at the All-Heart Learning and Ability Campus, 1790 SW 43rd Way. The school provides educational and therapeutic services on campus, including specialized nutrition and nursing. Meals are free to enrolled students through the USDA National School Lunch Program. Teachers use hands-on, thematically organized instruction in language and communication, mathematics, art and sensory exploration, and adaptive skill building. Parents can include speech and language, occupational, and physical therapies and applied behavior analysis in the IEP. Classrooms use low student-to-teacher ratios.
