American Legacy Academy
School profile
Overview
American Legacy Academy is dedicated to providing a back-to-basics education that emphasizes essential subjects such as math, economics, science, and language skills, all grounded in civic responsibility and character development. The school serves students through a curriculum designed for a diverse range of learning needs, focusing on those with language-based learning disabilities and twice-exceptional students. By employing the Singapore Math Curriculum, students engage in an active learning process that fosters deep understanding through memorization and conceptual methodologies. The Academy also incorporates the Core Knowledge Foundation's Science Curriculum to build a strong foundation of scientific knowledge from early education through high school, allowing students to explore key historical contributions and the scientific method in an engaging manner. In addition to traditional subjects, students learn about economic systems through the lens of free-market capitalism while developing literacy skills through structured instruction across five domains. The Academy's commitment to character development is evident in its emphasis on virtues such as respect, integrity, and perseverance, which are reinforced through programs and classical literature. What sets American Legacy Academy apart is its focus on a classical education rooted in the liberal arts and sciences, combined with a low student-teacher ratio that fosters meaningful family partnerships and community engagement events. This unique approach equips students not only with academic knowledge but also with the moral foundation necessary for responsible citizenship.
