North Kern Christian School

North Kern Christian School opened in the fall of 1978 as a ministry of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Wasco, starting with kindergarten through eighth grade. We are nondenominational and open to any family who wants a Christian education, and over the years we added an on-campus preschool and daycare and a Home Study Program for kindergarten through 12th grade.

Our classrooms follow a traditional teacher-led approach using Abeka curriculum for kindergarten through 8th grade and ACSI Purposeful Design materials, with Bob Jones University Press math in junior high. Seventh and eighth graders cover math fundamentals and pre-algebra, and prepared 8th graders can take algebra with teacher and parent recommendation. Daily devotions, prayer and weekly chapel are part of every student's week.

Our main campus on Peters Street serves transitional kindergarten through 8th grade, and tuition assistance applications are available each year. School life includes events such as spirit week and our fall Boots and Barn Carnival.
