The New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, and Prader-Willi syndrome. Serving a diverse age range, OPWDD focuses on empowering individuals to live independently, engage in meaningful employment, and foster community relationships. The agency coordinates services through a robust network of approximately 500 nonprofit providers, ensuring that around 80 percent of support comes from these private organizations.
